BritWeek officially launched its 2015 Los Angeles program last night at an invitation-only BritWeek Red Carpet Launch at the Consul General’s Residence in Hancock Park.

Billy Zane, filmmaker Amanda Eliasch (pictured)Lady Victoria Hervey (pictured), Jacqueline Bisset, Paul OakenfoldLord Freddie Windsor BritWeek director Sharon Harroun Peirce (pictured) and Co-Founder Nigel Lythgoe kicked off the BritWeek program by celebrating British contributions in science fiction.

Lythgoe told British Weekly, “Every year, BritWeek’s program changes and evolves, but this year it is by far one of the most exciting with something for everyone.”

Of course being a huge sci-fi buff myself I was in my element at this year’s bash, when I arrived as I got to walk into the Tardis, was greeted by a Tom Baker – Doctor Who look-a-like and even I hugged a Dalek…

One-of-a-kind Doctor Who costumes were on display as guests sipped on science fiction-inspired cocktails from No.3 London Dry Gin and Belvoir and snapped pics in Walkers Shortbread’s Star-Trek inspired photo booth.  Sponsors of the event included Battersea Power Station, BBC Worldwide, and the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows.

Sean BorgDesigner Zandra Rhodes told me: “I think it’s wonderful, most of us are people that love being in America and stride across, so it’s really quite wonderful.”
